On the photo is Christopher Poole. Just a random guy? No. Do you know who he is? Do you know somebody who knows who he is? The chance is small.. This guy, a.k.a. moot, is such a brilliant dude. He is the founder of an online community called 4chan. With 8.5 million page views day and over 145 million posts, 4chan is the fourth largest bulletin on the net. moot, in lowercase, founded 4chan when he was 15 as a space where he and his friends could talk about anime and manga. 4chan is an imageboard; you're supposed to post pictures, wallpapers, snapshots, artwork, altered, deformed pictures, etc. 4chan is divided into 43 different boards, ranging from video games to food to random. The most popular board on 4chan, by far, is random. Boxxy was born here, Boxxy rocks. Everything on 4chan is allowed, except child porn. The rest is being spammed by anonymous people.
There used be a tradition on 4chan, where people had to post pictures of cats every Saturday. This was called Caturday. People stared adding capital letters to the pictures. One day somebody posted a shot of a fat gray cat looking at the camera and saying, I CAN HAS CHEEZBURGER? This picture escaped 4chan into the wide web. From there on, somebody, without knowing where it came from, stared the icanhascheezburger.com site. Soon this site became more popular, and more and more people started making their own catpictures. The lolcats where born. Last September investors bought the site for about two million, yes million, dollars. I don't have time to explain the story of myspace and facebook, but at the end of the road they all got very rich. Wonder how much 4chan is worth.
